What are the age limits for being able to join the school?

Basically, age and gender are not specified. Here at our school there are lots of people in their 60s and families who take our lessons together with their children etc. Children can take the Kids Course.

Can individuals participate?

Individuals can participate. There are even women who take the lessons by themselves.

From what age can you take the Kids Course private lesson?

Elementary school children and above as long as the child can swim and will definately listen to the teacher`s instructions. If the child is too small, their lack of strength and concentration could end up the cause of an injury.

About what kind of level do you have to be for the Step Up lesson?

Basically, the Step Up lesson is for those surfers who want to focus on technique. It is probably suitable for those who can take of and do riding horizontally. For those who are worried about taking off, it is suggested you take the basic lesson.

What about rainy days?

As surfing is a sport where you get wet, lessons are held on rainy days too. However, there may be the case of cancellation based on judgement of the ocean`s condition, big waves, thunder and lightning etc. due to typhoons. As soon as any decision is made, we will contact the customer.

Can the lesson be taken even if you`re not in possession of a wet suit, surf board and other equipment?

We have a preparation of rental equipment. We have a full set of wet suits of every size. On booking please tell us your height and weight. We will prepare the appropriate size for you.

What do you have to take to the lesson?

Please bring your swimsuit, a towel and sandals. (It is reccommended that for those taking our lesson in summer and who are worried about sun burn to bring some sun screen.) We have shower facilities at our school so it may be wise to prepare some shampoo etc.

Is there anything you have to be cautious about the day before the lesson?

Surfing is a sport where nature is your opponent. Here we are always thinking 「customer safely first」 but please come in a prepared condition having properly slept the day before.

Do you have to wear something under the wet suit?

It is suggested that you be wearing swim wear. Board shorts can be bulky and therefore make it hard to move. We reccommend bikini pants etc.

What if you don't have very good eye sight?

We reccommend that you remove your glasses before entering the ocean. They are easy to lose in the waves. It might be good for those anxious to use throw away contact lenses.

Are there showers?

We have hot water shower rooms. They are coin showers, ￥200 for 3 minutes. You can use them as changing rooms for free.

What should you do about accessories?

If they come off in the ocean, you cannot find them. Lets take of as much of it as we can before entering the ocean.

What if you cannot swim?

Those who cannot swim are still able to participate but please inform the instructor prior to the lesson.

Are you able to participate with your own surf board?

Yes, of course that is possible. In the case of it being a new board, please have the setting of fins, decking, leash cord and wax done beforehand.

About how long does the school take?

The school's basic lesson takes approximately 2 hours, the step up and private lessons take approximately 3 hours. For the basic lesson there is a morning group (from 9AM) and an afternoon lesson (from 1PM). For the step up and private lessons, there is only one group from 1PM.

What if you`re not very confident about your physical strength?

The school is about 2 hours for the basic lesson but if you feel tired at any stage please do not hesitate to inform the instructor. The lesson can be taken at your pace.

Is it ok even for complete beginners?

For beginners we reccommend the basic lesson. Here at our school lessons are taken in groups of small numbers where a maximum of 4 students are assigned to one teacher and we teach carefully everything from rules and manner to take off.

What is included in the school fees?

Included in the school fees (tax included) are the lesson fee, payment for the graduation certificate and textbook and an insurance policy. For those customers who wish to rent items such as a wet suit, an extra payment is required.

For how long can the rental equipment borrowed for the lesson be used?

The rental is for one day. It is also possible to rent the board and wetsuit to use straight after the school.

Is it ok to go by car?

Here at our school we are also running a carpark service so you can come relieved. However, there is a fee in July/August. We ask for your consideration.

Is it possible to take the same lesson two days in a row?

It is possible to take the same lesson over more than one day however the content will overlap. We reccommend that on the first day you take our lesson and then on the next day you do repetitive practice of the things you learnt the day before. Or there are people who take a surfing lesson on the first day and a body boarding lesson on the second day.

About payment of fees.

You can pay via cash or credit card.

About cancellation.

Basically, we dont have any cancellation fees. In the case of cancellation, please contact our staff in advance.

What's NSA?

NSA, the Japan Surfing Association was established in the year 1965 and has attained the goals of friendship between surfers of Japan and overseas and to heighten interest in the ocean through surfing in accordance with ammiture spirit, all together with the aim to publish activities of the essentials of correct development of surfing and measurement training of the healthy mind and body. Now in comparison with when it was first established, it has advanced as a top social leader of surfing as a sport but in order to keep that status and improve even more, surfers all over Japan need to continue supporting actives. Presently it has become a big organisation with 15,000 members of 72 national branches and 730 cooperating shops and that number keeps increasing every year. At our school even those who will try surfing for the very first time are instructed politely and in an easy to understand way by instructors who have taken an official short course instructors course held by the NSA Japan surfing organization. At the Japan surfing organsiation they are promoting the endeavour of instructing including teaching the correct rules and manner of the ocean whilst allowing as many people as possible to enjoy surfing safely.

At our NSA Japan surfing organisation official school we are giving a school text and completion certificate. At our NSA Japan surfing organisation official school we are entered into an insurance scheme to provide for case by case injuries afflicted in any accident within the school.
